We at DNP were thrilled to see Oscar finally recognize the brilliance that is Martin Scorsese, with a win for "The Departed." While it goes without saying that Mr. Scorsese is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, he's also made some great television commercials, most recently for American Express.

Another one of our favorite Hollywood directors that has ventured into the advertising world is Christopher Guest. From Spinal Tap to SNL, Guest is always on top of his game. The same can be said for a recent commercial he directed and starred in as Spinal Tap guitarist Nigel Tufnel.

The 2007 Addy's

The Knoxville Advertising Federation presented the 2007 ADDY awards this past weekend, and it was a very memorable evening for all of us at DNP. For starters, we walked away with over 100 ADDY awards for clients including Boston Whaler, Superpetz, Food City, Home Federal Bank, Weis Markets and The Lodge at Buckberry Creek, among others.

It was also a special evening because our President and CEO, Buddy McLean, was presented with the prestigious Bob McCabe Silver Medal Award in honor of his contributions to the Knoxville advertising industry and the community. Buddy joined DNP as an account executive in 1972 and became our agency’s owner, president and CEO in 1989. In addition to building DNP into what it is today, Buddy has always been extremely involved in local charitable and civic organizations. You couldn’t find a more deserving, or a nicer, person for this award.

Headed to Miami!

A lot of the DNP crew is excited to be heading down to Miami for the 2007 Miami Boat Show. This year's show features 1,500 companies that produce approximately 80 percent of the marine products used by recreational boaters and anglers in the United States.

Super Bowl Ads...

Well, after much discussion, the final analysis of this year's Super Bowl ads are in. If you didn't get to see the ads, you can check them out on YouTube as many times as you like. Some experts found the entire lot of ads boring, while our group at DNP broke it down on our podcast as well.
