Food City stores to offer re-usable grocery bags

Did you know that Americans are using 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually? That equates to an astounding 21,000 barrels of oil DAILY to produce them. To help cut down on this statistic and help the environment in the process, Food City is proud to announce the introduction of a new re-usable shopping bag program. Customers will be able to purchase the re-usable bags for 99 cents and bring them back into the store on each shopping visit to carry their purchases.
Kudos to Food City and media partners WBIR-TV in Knoxville and WJHL in the Tri-Cities for this exciting and sure to be effective new program!

I picked up two of these grocery bags this weekend, and saw several other folks carrying them around as well.
Now, if you could just get us to stop buying bottled water....
