Food City President, Steve Smith, talks about reviving iconic brands

Here's an insightful interview with Food City President, Steve Smith, from the News Sentinel's online business section yesterday. Good to hear that Food City's strategy to revive iconic brands, such as Kern's Bread, Lays Meats and Kay's Ice Cream has been so successful. And, as Steve mentions in the article, some more brands you knew and loved will be making their way back to Food City shelves in the near future. Stay tuned!

Cool new website to check out!

DNP and DNPinteractive have a great new site for everyone to check out that just went live! Brunswick Commercial and Government Products has launched a very cool new website at BrunswickCGP.com and BuiltfortheMission.com that has great interaction, including the opportunity to "Build a Boat", no matter what type of mission clients need. Great site and definitely worth the time to check out!

Publicize or Perish

A new survey just released by Northstar Marketing cofirms something we've always advocated for our clients here at DNP. During times of an economic recession, the companies that continue to stay agressive with their advertising and marketing initatives will continue to thrive.

Consider this statistic from the survey:

A Q1 2008 survey found that 23% of the surveyed CFO’s are increasing their marketing/advertising budgets in response to the economic downturn. Only 14% were decreasing their budgets.

The survey point out that these decision makers are putting their marketing money into initiatives that have a direct and measurable business impact, such as Interactive campaigns and Email marketing. These approaches are relatively inexpensive to produce and easy to measure in terms of results. Most importantly, they provide a means to stay aggressive in a time when many organizations make the mistake of following the status quo. Wise advice.

The Three Little Piggies Are Back!

Our friends at Food City announced yesterday they are bringing back another iconic brand, Lay's Meats. For years, Lay's Meats was one of the most popular area brands in part to the adorable three little pigs used in their advertising.

We welcome these Three Little Piggies back to the markets at Food City! And thanks to all who attended the press conference yesterday...especially DNP's very own grill master, Craig Bates, who manned the hot dog booth like a champ!

Speaking of gasoline and going green...

Building on what Lance wrote below about the very cool Fuel and Pharmacy Bucks promotion that Food City is running, good news for men who are going green. According to this story, guys who are into fuel-efficient are more likely to be the object of affection from women these days. Other interesting facts in this story from a recent survey that are worth taking a look at as well...
